John Gutmann: Parallels in Focus Featuring the original "Talking Pictures"
ARTIST John Gutmann
This exhibition spotlights the artist's photographs which incorporate language, and also includes a selection of figurative, self-portrait and "structured vision" photographs. Also presented are examples of Gutmanns paintings, drawings and materials related to teaching at San Francisco State University, in celebration of the 60th anniversary of his affiliation with the University, the 50th anniversary of his 1946 founding of the SFSU Photography Program and the recent reissue of the artist's monograph, The Restless Decade.
