Exhibition Opportunities for SF State School of Art Undergrads

THE 34TH ANNUAL STILLWELL STUDENT EXHIBITION IS COMING!

Juried exhibition opportunity open to all undergrads currently enrolled in at least one School of Art class.

 

For 2021 we are hosting exhibitions in 2 different ways, in-person in the Fine Arts Gallery, and online on the kunstmatrix.com website.

Submit up to three works for either exhibition. All artists will have at least one work accepted.

In-Person Exhibition

Where: Drop off actual work in the Fine Arts Gallery (FA Room 238)

When: From noon to 5 p..m on Monday October 25 and Tuesday October 26

What: bring your work, or a link for video work, and a printout with:

  • Three sentences of text (an artist statement) to help the jury understand each work.
  • A List that includes the following information for all work submitted:
    Title, Year completed, Media, Dimensions, Running time (for videos)

Online Exhibition

When: Deadline for online submissions is 5 p.m. on Tuesday, October 26

How: submit work by email to fineartsgallery@sfsu.edu

Attach the following to the email using subject line: “2021 Stillwell Submission”

  • One image of each work, and additional details if possible
    For jpgs: 72dpi, 3MB max. Please title each jpeg as "ImageNumber_Last Name" for example: "01_Bliss"
  • Include a short (10 seconds or less) video of three-dimensional work, if possible
  • Include a link to video submissions
  • Three sentences of text (an artist statement) to help the jury understand each work.
  • A List that includes the following information for all work submitted:
    Title, Year completed, Media, Dimensions, Running time (for videos)

Please Note: the SF State email system sometimes drops emails with large attached documents. Please send multiple emails if needed. You will receive an emailed acknowledgment from us within 24 hours. If you do not, please re-send. Thank you!

In-Person Exhibition Dates are Tuesday, November 30 through Thursday, December 9. The Fine Arts Gallery is open Tuesday through Friday from noon to 4 p.m. Visitors from off-campus need to reserve free tickets in advance. SF State affiliates (students, faculty, staff) need to show a “green dot” of COVID screening for entry.

Opening Reception: Tuesday, November 30, 4 to 5:30 p.m.

The online exhibition will run from November 30 through December 31, 2021. URL to come.
