Guest curated by SFSU Museum Studies graduate student Keone Nakakura. One constant in the human experience is the certainty of death—a reality we encounter daily yet often avoid confronting. Life and The Inevitable invites audiences to consider dying, mourning, and remembrance not as endpoints, but as complex and multifaceted experiences that shape how we live, love, and relate to one another. Rather than offering definitive answers, the exhibition creates space to encounter death in unexpected ways, encouraging visitors to reflect on their own relationships to loss, grief, and, in turn, life.
